Printable Creations | Live in the Present...

I recently finished reading “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes and really enjoyed it. The main theme of the story (no spoilers, I promise) is to live boldly and enjoy life to the fullest. This week’s Printable Creations quote from Henry David Thoreau has a similar message.

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.”

Don’t live in fear of doing things in life. Step out of your comfort zone and do something you have always dreamed of doing. My junior year in college, I was required to get an internship or study abroad for one semester. We basically were required to leave the comforts of our studios at A&M. And boy, did I leave my comfort zone. I chose to study abroad in Australia. I had never left the US before and my first trip was literally halfway around the world. But I will never forget the experience I had and the friends I made. I got to pet koalas and kangaroos and see the Great Barrier Reef. I went to Sydney and saw the Opera House. I also did go to one of the universities there for the semester which was also new and different.

Take chances and live boldly. You never know how your life could turn out and it could be amazing.

Each week I design and post a new Printable Creation that will be available for free to my readers. You can subscribe below to get this week's and all future Printable Creations in your inbox every Wednesday.

Creating the Creation

Tools I used: blob brush, pen tool, ellipse tool

Different stages of the design process for this week's Printable Creation

Sometimes my sketch isn’t as fully formed when I start on the computer as others are. And sometimes what I sketch ends up not working as well once I digitize it in Illustrator. But it is all about experimentation. Figuring out the style for the letters was a struggle. As you can see in the process image above, I originally had most of the words in cursive. Once I started refining the letters though, they were coming out too perfect looking. So I moved them off to the side and rewrote them using the blob brush. When I was refining them the second time, I tried to keep the integrity of my handwriting more and just refined the curves so that the letters were all evenly sized.

Hope you enjoy this week’s printable!

Each Printable Creation will only be available until the next Wednesday when a new printable is posted. But the printable won't be gone forever! Once a new week rolls around and I post a new printable, the previous printable is added to my Etsy shop.
